Programme Overview
The Top-Up Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber Security & Networking) at Nova Academy upgrades an IT diploma into an EQF Level 6 bachelor degree in 12 months, certified by the University of Information Technology and Management (UITM) in Rzeszow, Poland. The programme provides a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles and network technologies, balancing theoretical concepts with practical skills: network fundamentals, protocols and architecture; cybersecurity principles including risk management and threat analysis; network security with firewalls, intrusion detection systems and VPNs; identifying and analysing cyber threats and attacks such as malware, phishing and denial-of-service; cryptography for securing communications and data; operating system security; and network administration — setting up, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure. Assessment is 100% coursework with no written examinations, so your grade reflects hands-on defence work rather than memorised theory. The curriculum is in English, with classes conducted in English and Mandarin. Entry is open to holders of any diploma or equivalent certification in IT; counting from the start of a Nova diploma, the full pathway takes about 30 months. Graduates are in demand as network administrators, network security analysts, cybersecurity analysts, network engineers, security administrators and security-focused IT support specialists. Classes run at the Nova campus in MRANTI Technology Park, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
